MORVILLO LAWCHIASSON APPEAL

PRESS RELEASE: Anthony Chiasson Statement Regarding the Supreme Court's Rejection of the U.S. Solicitor General's Petition for Certiorari
October 5, 2015, New York, NY Gregory Morvillo, attorney for Anthony Chiasson and Partner at Morvillo LLP, today issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s rejection of the Solicitor General’s petition for certiorari review in U.S. v. Anthony Chiasson.

“Today the Supreme Court rejected the government’s efforts to rewrite well-settled insider trading law at Anthony Chiasson’s expense.  The Second Circuit Court of Appeals’ pronouncement of Mr. Chiasson’s innocence, as well as that court’s harsh chiding of the government’s tactics, has withstood all challenges and is now final. Mr. Chiasson is deeply gratified by this complete vindication, one that ends the five year ordeal he and his family endured. At the same time, he notes with profound indignation that dozens of his outstanding colleagues lost livelihoods at his thriving fund which became the collateral damage of this ill-conceived prosecution. Anthony is grateful to, and shares this victory with, everyone who stood by him during this nightmare, and would like to thank his entire legal team for their brilliant advocacy on his behalf, with special thanks to Mark Pomerantz and Neal Katyal.”

PRESS RELEASE: Anthony Chiasson Statement Regarding The Second Circuit Court of Appeals' Rejection of the Government's Petition Review, April 3, 2015, New York, NYGregory Morvillo, attorney for Anthony Chiasson and Partner at Morvillo LLP, today issued the following statement regarding the decision by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejecting the government's petition for review in U.S. v. Anthony Chiasson. Today's decision by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejecting the government's petition for both a panel rehearing and en banc review powerfully reaffirms Mr. Chiasson's innocence. This victory is proof that the justice system worked how it is supposed to, with thoughtful judicial oversight when there are glaring errors at the trial court level. As Mr. Chiasson begins to look upon his career with fresh eyes, he sincerely hopes that his experience will become a cautionary story about the consequences of prosecution based on what the Second Circuit has characterized as doctrinal novelty. In the future, it is his hope that others will not be subjected to the entirely avoidable ordeal that his family and highly ethical former colleagues of his firm have endured for over four years. Mr. Chiasson thanks his appellate attorneys, Mark Pomerantz and Alexandra Shapiro, without whom this victory would not have been possible.
